Third Academic Conference on International Mediation
The Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, swisspeace as an associated institute of the University of Basel and the Centre for Mediation in Africa (CMA) at the University of Pretoria are jointly organizing the third edition of the Academic Conference on International Mediation from 17-19 July 2017 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The first edition was hosted by CMA at the University of Pretoria in June 2015, and the second edition was hosted by swisspeace at the University of Basel in June 2016.
The Conference aims to explore the connections between different spheres of knowledge regarding international mediation and peace negotiations and to discuss how a more diverse and interdisciplinary approach to peace processes can contribute to bridging the several gaps between research and practice in this particular area.
