Civil Peace Worker in Khartoum /Sudan

The Centre for Training and Networking in Nonviolent Action – KURVE Wustrow, together with our partner organisation Bana Group for Peace and Development, is looking for a Civil Peace Worker in Khartoum /Sudan for its CPS-project “Strengthening the voices of marginalised women in the Sudanese transition process”.

As an International Peace Worker you will support Bana, a nationwide network of marginalised women especially in the area of awareness raising and advocacy on woman / human rights and demands of marginalised women in Sudan and be integrated into the all-women team of the partner organisation.

Field of work:

  • Planning, implementing and monitoring the CPS project together with Bana, other project participants and partners
  • Supporting the planning, development of concepts, implementation of awareness raising campaigns and advocacy work
  • Planning, monitoring and evaluation of activities
  • Support the networking and public relations activities of Bana regarding state and civil society actors
  • Integration into the team of the partner organisation and support in processes of organisational and programme development as needed
  • Supporting the partner organisation in processes of institutional strengthening in accordance with identified needs
  • Budget planning and monitoring, ensuring proper and adequate use of funds, and regular communication with the CPS country coordinator and the KURVE Wustrow office in Germany
  • Close cooperation with the CPS coordinator on ongoing conflict and security analysis and in cooperation with the partner organisation support the implementation of holistic security approaches
  • Supporting the networking and public relation activities of KURVE Wustrow in Germany if applicable


  1. University or a similar degree in peace and conflict studies, political and social sciences, regional studies, international social work or another relevant field
  2. Relevant qualification and sound knowledge and experience in the field of civil, nonviolent conflict transformation as well as experience with nonviolent social movements
  3. Knowledge and experience in working on gender issues and intersectionality and sensitivity for postcolonial perspectives
  4. Several years of practical work experience with NGOs, in intercultural teams and/
    or abroad
  5. Knowledge of and experience in participatory training approaches
  6. Experience in handling digital and social media and websites
  7. Knowledge of and experience in (post) war societies
  8. Willingness to travel in Sudan
  9. Intercultural competence, cultural sensitive communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic local team including working under pressure and dealing creatively with complications
  10. Ability to reflect about one’s own role regarding the specific institutional context and the willingness to learn
  11. Knowledge of the context and work experience in Sudan would be an asset
  12. Professional command of English and knowledge of Arabic
    (or the willingness to learn Arabic)
  13. German language skills would be an asset
