The peaceful transformation of conflicts is a complex task that can hardly be managed without experts. Wherever people contribute to preventing and reducing violence and to political and social change towards a just and peaceful society, a high level of expert and personal skills is required.
With its Training for Peace within the Advanced Programme, the Academy for Conflict Transformation imparts the knowledge and skills required by all those making a professional contribution to civil conflict resolution at home and abroad.
The trainings deal with fundamental and specialised topics of conflict transformation. They last one to three days and
- are grouped according to topics into 4 modules: Basic Principles, Developing Know-How, Expert Topics and Concrete Project Work
- train people for professional work in the areas of conflict transformation, civil conflict resolution, Civil Peace Service and crisis prevention
- offer the know-how of a deploying organisation as well as an up-to-date, practice-oriented curriculum
- cover a wide range of topics and offer a variety of methodical approaches
- offer contents oriented on conflict and peace sensitivity
- link the learning processes of the participants with their professional context and their background of experience.
The Training for Peace courses address organisations and individuals
- working in conflict transformation and civil conflict resolution or
- who wish to extend their corresponding knowledge and skills for their work at home and abroad.
The above include current and future staff in development co-operation, humanitarian aid, technical co-operation as well as consultants, evaluators, peace experts and other experts, whether they be preparing for a mission or have already been deployed, co-ordinators, project developers, regional and local staff, staff in political and institutional administration in development co-operation and other professionals (e.g. journalists).
The newly published programme brochure for 2007/2008 includes detailed descriptions of the twenty individual trainings of the Advanced Programme, as well as information on other courses. The trainings can be booked individually, as well as in blocks ('modules') or you can combine several trainings according to your needs. Please feel free to forward it to colleagues and friends who might be interested in short trainings on topics of conflict transformation, civil conflict resolution and similar issues. The Academy for Conflict Transformation is happy to send you the brochure as a hard copy on request.
The whole set of the trainings of the Academy for Conflict Transformation can be found on this homepage as well (see entries in 'events').
