UN hosts two major events for the culture of peace
Although the UN Decade for a Culture of Peace ended in 2010, the culture of peace is more than ever on the agenda of the United Nations. As the United Nations General Assembly begins its new session, it hosted two major events for the culture of peace at its headquarters in New York on 14 and 21 September 2012.
UN High-Level Forum on the Culture of Peace
Top officials of the United Nations said on September 14, 2012, that education could tackle the roots of conflict by promoting an understanding of common humanity, as they opened a day-long General Assembly forum on the promulgation of a ‘culture of peace’ at the Organization’s headquarters in New York. Secretary-General's Remarks at UN Culture of Peace Debate
