COP30 – What should be delivered on Climate, Peace, and Security?

A policy brief by FriEnt, Brot für die Welt, Germanwatch, Search for Common Ground, and World Vision

COP30 presents an opportunity to integrate climate action with peace and security by adopting conflict-sensitive approaches to mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage. Evidence shows that climate change intensifies tensions and vulnerabilities, especially in fragile states, yet these countries receive only a small portion of necessary climate finance, highlighting the need for targeted, peace-promoting interventions.

Nina Strumpf contributed to this paper alongside other authors. Representing the ZKB in the Working Group on Peace and Development (FriEnt), she is committed to bringing current topics from the platform into the network and facilitating controversial exchanges, including the examination of issues such as "climate and peace" from multiple perspectives.
