Pushing Back the Pushback? WPS, Power Politics, and Liberal Retreat
Twenty-five years after its adoption, the Women, Peace and Security agenda faces a profoundly altered political environment. Power politics are resurging, militarization is on the rise, and anti-rights backlash is gaining momentum. Yet the weakening of WPS cannot be attributed solely to illiberal opposition; while many states continue to invoke the agenda rhetorically, their genuine political commitment to its implementation is steadily diminishing.
