The Implications of Climate Change and Environmental Degradation for Dialogue and Mediation Processes in Peace Operations and Crisis Management

This report summarizes the outcomes of a workshop held at the 2025 Berlin Climate and Security Conference, organized by the European Centre of Excellence for Civilian Crisis Management (CoE) together with partners from Finland, Sweden, Germany, and SIPRI, bringing together experts on peace processes and climate, peace, and security. It highlights conclusions and recommendations on integrating climate and environmental considerations into dialogue and mediation processes to ensure sustainable peace, emphasizing financial incentives, stronger CPS advisory roles, strategic framing, improved collaboration across silos, and enhanced cooperation with local actors.
