 With our work at KURVE Wustrow, we help to ensure that concern about armed conflicts, ecological destruction and social injustice can be translated into considered, nonviolent action. 

We deploy peace workers as part of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) and work together with partner organisations in the Balkans, in Palestine/Israel, in Sudan, Ukraine and in South and South East Asia. We also focus on seminars on civil, nonviolent conflict resolution in Germany and abroad, engage against nuclear power and support climate and resource protection.

we are looking 

for two 

International Peace Workers (1x f/m/d, 1x f/d) in Palestine/ Israel (38,5 hours/week) 

These are your tasks 

As a peace worker you will work with different nonviolent voluntary initiatives (possible partners are “All that’s left”, “Youth of Sumud”, “Ikhilia, Association for Youth Empowerment in the Jordan Valley” and “Rweisat of Wood Art” or possibly others and to be finally defined at a later stage. You advise and support the groups and their communities in conflict transformative project implementation, capacity building trainings related to nonviolent conflict transformation, human rights and international law. You also support in network building, strategical organisational development and administrative tasks. 

One of the two peace workers will primarily work with women’s initiatives and thus we especially encourage applications from women. 

  • KURVE Wustrow’s regional office is in the Bethlehem area where regular meetings take place and you will regularly visit the partner organizations for networking and work meetings 
  • Together with partners, you identify needs and support implementation of identified projects / events. 
  • You will strategize in campaigning and support partners in advocacy efforts 
  • You will support community organizing and mobilization 
  • You identify training opportunities and coordinate trainings with our partners 
  • You support the planning, monitoring and reporting (narrative and financially) of the CPS project 

Skills you have 

  • A relevant university degree (e.g. peace and conflict studies, political sciences, social work, pedagogy) or completed training with several years of professional experience in a field of work relevant to the CPS and working with voluntary activist groups / community organizing.

  • Several years of practical experience in working with NGOs or in community building, preferably in intercultural teams and/or abroad. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict, which can be used respectfully and sensitively in an intercultural context. 
  • The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability. 
  • Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations. 
  • Very good English language skills, advanced Arabic skills are an asset. 
  • Knowledge of activist culture and/or work experience in Israel and/or the Occupied Palestinian Territory are an asset. 
  • Drivers licence and willingness to drive in Palestine / Israel.

  • Participation in qualification and further training measures, regular supervision and, if necessary, participation in a corresponding language course 
  • Many opportunities to work independently, a high degree of creative freedom in your daily work and cooperation at eye level 
  • A full-time contract in accordance with the Development Workers Act (for EU citizens, EEA and Switzerland only) or a contract in alignment with the Development Workers Act for citizens from other countries until December 2028. Please note: The conditions of the German law for development aid workers excludes the application and deployment of citizens of the deployment countries.

  • An extensive preparation period in Germany, usually three to four months, starting on September 16, 2025.
