Decolonial Transformation

Peace work needs proper planning, monitoring and evaluation in order to be able to contribute  Colonisation wasn’t only about claiming geographic territory and it has not been overcome yet: coloniality is still very present. It impacts structures, cultures and interactions on a personal level, in our societies and in international cooperation.

This 5 day Practitioner Training is not focused on the history of colonization, as participants come from diverse backgrounds with different colonial experiences. Instead, it explores how internalised colonial ways of being influence our daily lives and interactions.

We will examine the systems of interaction and governance within our organizations, learning to recognize colonial behaviors embedded in these structures. Additionally, we will create an open space for learning from each other and exchanging good practices, fostering collective growth and shared understanding. By doing so, we aim to understand how colonial attitudes perpetuate systems of oppression and unjust relations, and to foster conscious, transformative change from within.

The training emphasises inner reflection, providing tools to identify and challenge these behaviors within ourselves - and to reflect on possibilities and challenges of a decolonial transformation of our collaboration in and between NGOs.

Objectives Participants are able

  • to understand injustices and privileges on personal and structural levels from a de-colonial perspective
  • to explore existing hurdles and possible steps towards decolonial transformation of our various societies
  • to (re-)design for transformative change in projects and NGOs

When Does it Take Place?

The training starts on 16.03. at 14.00 and ends on Friday, 20.03.2026 after lunch.
