Pluriversality, Peace and Existential Continuity in Timor-Leste
Epistemic decolonization has been central to developing more critical peace research, emphasizing onto-epistemological reframing and engagement with diverse cosmologies, knowledge systems, and ways of being. In Timor-Leste, this approach highlights a largely overlooked dimension of peace grounded in spiritual imperatives for existential and cultural continuity, including the presence of the deceased, the role of origin groups in social life, and the intergenerational impacts of unresolved grievances.
