Er ist kein Luxus mehr, sondern eine Voraussetzung, um militärische Operationen durchführen zu können. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass der Weltraum für unsere nationalen Interessen von elementarem Interesse ist.“1 So die Direktion für Öffentlichkeitsarbeit im Hauptquartier des US-Weltraumkommandos im Juli 2000. Dieses Weltraumkommando der USA ist keine Fiktion, sondern unter dem Namen »US Space Command« seit 15 Jahren Wirklichkeit.
