Aid Cuts and Security Risks: From Health System Disruption to Human Insecurity
Declining foreign aid to fragile and conflict-affected contexts threatens healthcare systems, crisis prevention and institutional trust, with far-reaching humanitarian and security consequences. Case studies from Somalia, Mali and Mauritania show how cuts to development and humanitarian assistance can deepen existing crises and dependencies. The paper therefore calls for a human-centred security approach that better connects development and security policies.
