Global Peace Index 2026

The 2026 Global Peace Index (GPI), released by Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), reveals a world struggling with the economic consequences of a record-high number of increasingly interconnected and difficult-to-resolve conflicts. Global peacefulness declined for the twelfth consecutive year, while the number of active state-based conflicts rose to 61 the highest level recorded since the end of the Second World War.
