International Peace Worker (m/f/d) in Palestine/Israel

For our CPS-programme “Protecting the Civil Society and strengthening Nonviolent Initiatives” we are looking for an

International Peace Worker (m/f/d) in Palestine/Israel

These are your tasks
Project management, support and backstopping for nonviolent initiatives in the West Bank and Israel, particularly in the areas of organisational development, networking and documentation. The International Peace Worker (IPW) will be based in Al-Walajah / Bethlehem and will work with KURVE Wustrow partner organisations in their respective locations, mainly in the West Bank. 

• Integration into the team of the partner organisations, planning and implementation of the CPS-projects within the teams, supporting organisational processes in both program development and organisational development
• Consultation, support and backstopping nonviolent initiatives in the West Bank and Israel, particularly in the fields of advocacy, organisational development, networking and documentation.
• Support the Regional KURVE Wustrow Programme Coordinator to ensure coherence between specific projects and the overall CPS programme of KURVE Wustrow in Palestine & Israel
• You will ensure the proper use of funds and reporting as well as regular communication with the CPS country coordinator and the KURVE Wustrow head office. 

Skills you have

• A relevant university degree (e.g. peace and conflict research, social sciences or education, arabic studies) or completed training with several years of professional experience in a field of work relevant to the CPS.
• Several years of practical experience in working with NGOs, preferably in intercultural teams and/or abroad. 
• Relevant further training in the field of civil, nonviolent conflict transformation and sound knowledge in this area. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict, which can be used respectfully and sensitively in an intercultural context.
• The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability.
• Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations.
• Very good English language skills and willingness to learn Arabic (knowledge of Arabic will be considered a crucial asset)
• Driving license B
• Readiness for official travels, possibly under difficult circumstances

• A meaningful role as a peace worker employed by the Centre for Training and Networking in Nonviolent Action – KURVE Wustrow, and the opportunity to actively and creatively advocate social change
• Participation in qualification and further training measures, regular supervision and, if necessary, participation in a corresponding language course

• A full-time contract in accordance with the Development Workers Act (for EU citizens, EEA plus Switzerland) until 31.12.2026.

• An extensive preparation period in Germany, usually three to four months,starting on 16.09.2024.
