International Day of Peace 2026: Building peace from the ground up

Sustainable peace is built over time through the often-invisible work of peacebuilders who rebuild trust, maintain political momentum and lay the foundations for lasting peace before, during and after formal agreements. Drawing on experiences from Catalonia, Uganda and elsewhere, the event brings policymakers and practitioners together to discuss the challenges and opportunities of peacebuilding and how the international community can better recognise and support this work.
