Online-Workshop: Rethinking Peace and Conflict: The ‘Colonial Underside’ and Its Conceptual Ground
Our conceptual and theoretical understanding of peace work and conflict transformation is often based on Eurocentric assumptions. These characterise the self-image, attitudes and concrete goals of international peace projects - usually dominated by actors from the Global North. By marginalising other perspectives, epistemic violence is perpetuated and equal recognition and partnerships are made more difficult.
In this workshop, we want to create space for critical reflection and interactive creativity: What understandings of peace and conflict exist in locally-led peace initiatives but are not heard and recognised? How can a different conceptual framework inform our understanding of partnerships and offer new insights into peace and conflict? Robinah Nampanga will give insights into the Ubuntu Philosophy and provide impulses for conflict transformation from an anti-racist perspective.
Important note: we do not send out registration confirmations. We will provide the Zoomlink for the workshop a few days before the event. For registration and further questions, please contact Cora Biess: at cora.biess@pzkb.de.
