What’s going on in Myanmar? Feminist Perspectives and International Responsibility
On the 14th of April/4 PM CEST (Berlin time) WILPF Germany wants to discuss the recent developments in Myanmar since the military coup took place in early February and nationwide protests erupted. There will be a special focus on what role the international community should play. We have invited three fantastic speakers who each bring a different perspective on this current issue:
- Nandar is one of the most outspoken feminists in Myanmar, founder of the Purple Feminists Group and a podcast host.
- Mirja Brand has been working as a Civil Peace Worker for a local NGO in Myanmar, focusing on social justice and sustainable development.
- Stefanie Clamor is the German Representative of the Global Movement for Myanmar Democracy (GM4MD), a youth-led grassroots organization supporting Myanmar’s fight for a federal democracy through coordinated international action.
This event will be hosted by the German Section of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom and moderated by Sofie Bliemel, who is a member of WILPF Germany and GM4MD. Participants will have the chance to ask questions to our speakers after a moderated panel.
