New Websites: Afghanistan Conflict Monitor and Pakistan Conflict Monitor

The Human Security Report Project (HSRP) launched a new Conflict Monitors website to host the popular Afghanistan Conflict Monitor and Pakistan Conflict Monitor: www.conflictmonitors.org

The Conflict Monitors provide concise and current information on peace and security issues in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Each Monitor is a comprehensive knowledge hub that contains the best available news, research, and data.

In a new initiative, the Conflict Monitors now provide interactive charts and maps illustrating trends in violent incidents and civilian casualties in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Special Feature: Civilian Casualties

In most conflicts, civilian casualty data simply do not exist, or are not publicly available. Neither warring parties nor international organizations are required to collect and publish such information.

Nonetheless, estimates of civilian casualties contribute to our understanding of the true costs of conflict. They can also be used by governments to develop harm-reduction strategies.

The data presented in the Conflict Monitors are from a variety of datasets and statistical sources created by organizations around the world.
